Social Shopping: A New Trend In Online Retail

Social shopping is predicted to be a great boom for E-Commerce looking at the various innovations taking place in online retail and social media it is borne to have an impact on the retailers when it comes to deciding about  advertising, promotion and customer reach strategies. For any shopper the experience of buying is more important   than the purchase. All shoppers want  adequate information and excitement when they shop and this hasn't changed  over time, even though we  have moved from physical to online shopping. Social shopping is that form of buying  where we can still have the traditional changing room experience where we can discuss with our friend about our  buying decision. On the basis  of information collected from various secondary sources this paper highlights the concept of social shopping, its  rising importance in today's scenario and how it is expected to evolve over a period of time. An attempt has also been  made to find out the initiatives taken by various social media sites and online retailers towards social shopping.
